The Flying Scotsman 'Real Steam' locomotive is powered by a mini immersion heater, which is located in the tender, and it is heated by a safe low voltage current passed along the Track by a remote regulator. This boils the water which then generates the steam, the affect allows the pistons to move and the wheels to turn. It is the possible to control the speed of the locomotive. This Flying Scotsman train set is perfect for the serious collector. This new Live Steam set includes Class A3 Live Steam locomotive 'Flying Scotsman', Live Steam controller and transformer, Track and operating accessories. Without using naked flames, flammable spirit or gas, the water in this superbly engineered model locomotive can be safely heated by electricity, and then superheated within the locomotive to produce enough steam energy to run the model for at least 20 minutes. In the locomotive's tender, a small water tank is filled with distilled water, which is then heated by a mini immersion heater located within the tank. A safe, low voltage current is passed along the Track by a remote regulator which in turn powers the immersion heater. After approximately five to ten minutes, the water will be heated sufficiently, and steam will begin to appear

Independent control is guaranteed for each loco even though they may both be on the same Track . When the powerful diesel locomotive is coupled to the four wagons included with the set, the Class 08 diesel can then pull them round the circuit just stopping in front of the little 0-6-0 'Jinty'. The 'Jinty' can then be reversed carefully so that it couples to the front of the 08. Then by programming the engines to work in unison the double headed train can move off down the Track .
